Variations on a Moravian folk song, Op. 89

A virtuoso concert piece for piano created using a variational technique on the theme of the song Rožnovské hodiny.
This composition was premiered at my authorial concert by the outstanding Czech pianist Luděk Šabaka in Prague in September 2022. In the spring of 2023, the same artist recorded it in the studio in the concert hall of the Prague Conservatory.
These variations are not just a sequence of musical variations on the melody of a well-known Moravian folk song, but a programme music of its own kind. They tell and develop by musical means the story contained in the text of the song. A story about love, grief, adversity, determination, faith in overcoming obstacles and victory over adversity. The idea of the sound of a tower clock, which seems to be hidden in the theme of the song, was also the inspiration for many parts of the song.
